Silistra Region is situated
in the North-East part of Bulgaria, bordering Romania through the Danube river.
It is located in the Dobrudja plain region, 200 meters above sea level. The
Silistra Region covers 2 850 square kilometers of land, which includes 7
municipalities:
Silistra, Dulovo, Tutrakan, Alfatar, Kainardja, Glavinitsa, Sitovo.
The good geographical situation and the preference of many different
types of transportation make the Silistra region a good prospect of economic
development.

port has a 400 meters key, 5 places for ship docks, mechanization for
pre-transportation: portal cranes – 1/32 tons; 2/10 tons, and platform scale
for weighting up to 50 tons.

mentioned above are alternative transportations trade routes to the European
Transport Corridor ¹ 9.
Ten kilometers outside of Silistra there is a cargo airport, which was
built for international and internal flights. It is state owned, but
unfortunately it is not functioning.
It could reach this possible capacity:
» 35 000
passengers;
» 3 000 tons/year.
The airport has a fully
equipped flight tower and the second longest runway in the country.
